Operation Single Payer

Welcome to a vital political tool for the California single payer movement!

Operation Single Payer is a project developed in 2010 by Physicians For a National Health Program, California Chapter, in response to the single payer movement’s lack of influence in the national reform process. The project builds teams of single payer constituents in every congressional, state assembly and state senate district in the state. These teams work in unison with the state and national single payer coalition leadership using conference calls with regional coordinators.
This approach is called relationship-based advocacy, an effective addition to the traditional message-based advocacy (email/fax/phone blasts). Unlike message-based advocacy, relationship-based advocacy depends on local activist collaboration. For relationship based advocacy to succeed, constituents must identify the other coalition members of their district, grow their member teams and then collaborate on regular legislative actions (legislative visits, rallies, local press and public outreach) with the guidance of the national and state single payer leadership.
