August 12- The Assembly Appropriations committee has passed SB810 to the Assembly floor for a final vote. If a simple majority of the Assembly votes in favor of the single payer Universal Healthcare Act of California, the bill will arrive at Governor Schwarzenegger’s desk for the third consecutive legislative cycle (in 2006 and 2008 the bill was vetoed by Schwarzenegger).

The Assembly currently has 34 co-authors of SB810. A successful floor vote requires 7 additional votes from the remaining 17 undeclared Democrats in the Assembly.
